A board member behind hudkræftklinikken.dk, Bolette Birch, herself experienced how hard and debilitating skin cancer treatment without Mohs surgery can be. In the previous year, 2015, she discovered a pearl shaped knob on her nose, which didn’t disappear. Bolette sought out her own doctor, and insisted on a referral to a skin doctor.
She started on a course of treatment for one year, where she went through 4 operations in all. But the operations didn’t remove all the skin cancer. The rush of operations and checkups pulled her down psychologically. Finally, she had her last operation with the Mohs surgery method. The method ensured that the skin cancer was completely removed with a simple operation using local anesthesia.
Bolette took the initiative to found Hudkræftklinikken.dk together with Martin, the specialist in Mohs surgery, and Inanna, the plastic surgeon so that other skin cancer patients could receive quick and effective treatment. Mohs surgery ensures a complete removal of the skin cancer, saves tissue and also saves the patient from unnecessary psychic stress by providing an optimal cosmetic result.
