Skin cancer can also develop on the legs and back, although it most commonly develops on the face, ears, neck and upper chest. In fact, it can be seen anywhere on the body. The symptoms of skin cancer on the legs and back can be a firm lump on the skin, a sore that won’t heal, a shiny lump, or a red, scaly patch.

If you suspect skin cancer on your legs or back, seek medical attention immediately. The sooner you’re treated, the better.

As a preventative measure, or if you have been diagnosed with skin cancer on your legs or back, be extra vigilant when you are in the sun. Of course, you can still be outside as usual, but seek shade between 12-3pm and wear sunscreen.

If you play sports or are otherwise active, you can continue to do so even if you have been diagnosed with skin cancer on your legs or back.

There are several treatment options for skin cancer on the legs and back. These include curettage and creams, which are mostly used for low-risk tumors, as well as surgical procedures.

The vast majority of skin cancer cases are curable, but if you have had skin cancer on your legs and back, you are more likely to get skin cancer again.
